Any piece that is designed for use with food (mugs, plates, bowls) has been fired to clay body and glaze manufacture specifications. Post-fire, pieces are coated in liquid quartz to ensure all surfaces are sealed and safe for use. Pieces are then run through the dishwasher before shipping.
